Early Years

Children in Early Years receive a sound book at the start of the year. Please cut out the individual sounds and stick them into the sound book. Practise the sounds and actions with your child regularly.

Once your child is beginning to blend (putting sounds together to read words, eg. p-a-t = pat) they will be given a reading book. Please read daily with your child, encouraging them to use blending skills, picture clues and tricky word knowledge to read the text.

From the Spring Term onwards, we will send out a weekly Maths activity for you to complete at home. These are fun practical activities that you can do around the house or outside eg. counting how many spoons you have in the cutlery drawer or hunting for numbers in the environment.

Remember - we would love to see what the children have been up to at home. Please log into Tapestry and upload any photos, film clips and comments.

If you have any queries about Home Learning in Early Years please speak to a member of the teaching team.
